The Memorial Day 2008 Super Meme

There are two me-s in meme because it's all about me. Meme's are the perfect way to let other bloggers know about you, let your audience know about you and get to know and relate to other bloggers, expand your network and watch your sphere of influence expand outwards. If you ever posed the question to yourself, "how many degrees are between me and Kevin Bacon?" this is the way to find out.

I am asking 8 questions because when tipped over the number 8 is the infinity symbol and that is totally geeky and 8 is my favorite number and it is 2008. Oh, how the stars have aligned!

Last year's meme: What you don't know about Mary McKnight could fill a book

So, without further ado, get to know me and see who I know:

1. Who is your favorite musical artist? (post a youtube video)

Stevie Nicks - we're talking full-on cocaine addicted Fleetwood Mac Mirage era, Stevie Nicks here! And don't think I didn't look for one of the videos where Lndsay Buckingham kicked her on stage. The best I could do was a 90's era vamped up phoney sexual tension clip from the Chain tour.

2. Who is your favorite artist (post a flicker photo)

Kandinsky

3. Who is your favorite blogger?

theSuperficial

Believe me, I would so like to tell you I love SEOmoz or StuntDubl, but no, it is gossip and sarcasm that suck me and my feed reader in.

4. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?

Will you stand against evil?

Winston Churchill: beacuse of his wit. Lady Astor once told Churchill, "If I were your wife, I would put poison in your tea." To which he replied, "If you were my wife, I would surely drink it."

Other quotables

My favorite:

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.
-Winston Churchill

5. What did you want to be when you grew up?

The black chick with the long fingernails on Solid Gold or Dolly Parton. i wish I could make this up, but no - truth be told- I would give my left leg to go to DollyWood.

And yes, that means I had no occupation in mind.

>

6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know?

The legend of Pope Joan

This wierd legend (regarded as flase by most historians) resulted in a tradition I lovingly term "grope the pope" where Bishops are required to feel the Pope's testicles before he ascends to the Papacy to verify his manhood.

Want other interesting trivia? Try Robert Wuhl's Assume the Position - the history of giving someone "the finger" and plucking the yew.

7. If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?

The 1920s (before the depression) - women were just understanding their power and position in society and I love the Great Gatsby.

8. What is the most interesting job you have ever held?

OK, this is the most interesting job I never held. Just before I graduated, I was asked to interview at Bain (a top Boston Consulting firm). I walked in and the guy behind the big desk asked me this:

"If you just completed a big deal and were sailing on your yacht and a Navy tanker ship pulled up alongside of you with all guns blazing - what would you do?"

I responded "I would radio my submarine and sink your bettleship." The man behind the desk asked where I got my submarine from to which I responded "the same place you got your battleship." Needless to say- this did not amuse the interviewer and I was uncerimoniously dismissed form the interview, never to walk those hallowed halls again.

The 8 people I memed

(which means they are required by meme law to answer and ask 8 other people to answers these same questions on their blogs!):

Laurie Manny: Long Beach Real Estate

Ines Garcia: Miami Real Estate

Mariana Wagner: Colorado Springs Real Estate

Louis Cammarosano/Max: Homegain

Steve Hundley: 1ParkPlace

Russell Shaw: Phoenix Real Estate

Mark Eibner and Dirk "Steele" (Jeez... I love typing that): Broker IP TV

Barry Cunningham: Real Estate Radio

Mary, very interesting. I could very much relate your Bain story. For 15+ years I asked these stupid challenging questions interviewing the newly minted MBA's.

This is the fun part of commenting. The backlinks part -reminds me of a job:) That's tomorrow.

So.... You're the one who started this and cost me two hours of my life???  It was a fun project and I got lots of comments on and off the blog.  Mariana is the one who meme'd me, which brought me here, and thus allowed me to sign up for the webinars you are hosting.  Very cool....

Mary,

Very creative... I was just thinking about this prior to the weekend, to start the meme sensation up again... to get new people involved.  But you went one step further, asking 8 questions and naming 8 people to meme. Thank god your favorite number wasn't 25 or so... lol

In regards to your meme, I loved number 8... you had me pissing in my pants with your answer about where you got the submarine. And if I was interviewing you, you wouldhave been hired for creativity and for thinking on your feet quickly. Or in this case, possibly thinking on your arse quickly.  But how funny....  And your # 4?  That was one of the same ones that I was thinking...

Here is my Memorial Weekend Meme....
